OMG Dessert Goals Recap

A couple of weekends ago, I braved the Long Island Railroad on St. Paddy’s Day.  If you’ve ever lived in New York, you might know that the way people celebrate St. Paddy’s Day here is the antithesis of everything I enjoy in life and the loudest, most obnoxious partyers all seem to dwell on Long Island and in Jersey.  But alas, when Monica told me about Dessert Goals, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to attend.  I joined her and Elena on a line with fellow dessert enthusiasts at Sound River Studios in Long Island City for a day full of sweets- specifically organized with instagram in mind (aka, the haven of my people).

There were several dessert vendors that topped my ‘must try’ list and I’m pleased to say that I hit most of them! The one exception is New Territories but I’m hoping to go there after work one day soon.  My favorite dessert of the day both look and taste-wise was the $20 (yes I spent $20 on a single dessert lol why me) unicorn cake pop cone bouquet from Rebecca’s Cake Pops.  I want to visit their Long Island location so I can get a fox or a mermaid pop in the near future.

Afterward, we took some photos outside of Sound River Studios.  There’s a breathtaking view of the city skyline and I would love to go back when it’s warmer.  We took off our coats for photos despite the freezing cold because that’s how dedicated we are.  Then we headed back into Manhattan and visited the Amazon bookstore.  I’d never been there before but I got a very strange unfriendly vibe as soon as I walked in.  It was like being at an alt world Barnes & Noble but with an eerie atmosphere.  It was fascinating to see which books they chose to sell in store though.

These are some of the cutest desserts I have ever seen, and I would TOTALLY spend 20 dollars on that cakey unicorn cone – it looks incredible! The only problem is, I’m not sure I’d want to eat them, they’re too adorable.
