Brunch at Toast

After a morning of errors, Andrew and I got on the road and journeyed to Asbury Park to visit his parents for his mom’s birthday.  I really love visiting them (which I outlined in an earlier blog post about our last weekend there!) and this weekend didn’t fail to disappoint either.  I love the excitement of being in Asbury and walking around in the artsy alternative beach town version of Stars Hollow. It’s such a great time because it’s evident how much my in-laws love living there and they’re always so eager to share new places with us that they think we would love (and they’re always right about them!).  As soon as we arrived, they took us out for brunch at an adorable restaurant called Toast.  Any establishment that has ‘peace, love and pancakes’ printed on their menu is a thumbs up in my book.  After our delicious meal, we walked around the town, passing the Paranormal Bookstore which I want to venture inside of the next time we’re in town, stopping in Food Lube and picking up a bottle of the most delicious basil olive oil, perusing some vintage shops and continuing our walk to soak up the lovely weather.

Next, we took a quick break and went back home where we just about completed a Wednesday crossword puzzle from the Wall Street Journal (I’m so thankful to Andrew’s dad for reigniting my love of crosswords!).  Later that day we picked up pies from Bürbelmaiers and smoothie bowls from Playa Bowl which has the most darling beach decor.  Everything was delicious and I’m still full thinking about all of the good food we ate.  Andrew’s sisters Brittany and Molly joined us a bit later in the day and we spent the rest of the evening enjoying each other’s company and catching up indoors until past my bedtime!

I live on the Jersey Shore, so it’s so fun to see you go to some local stops! My sister and I are obsessed with Playa Bowls, an acai bowl is the perfect treat at the end of a beach day!
