A Tuesday in the Park

Hi all! It’s been a while since my last update but Andrew and I are officially moved and settled into our new apartment.  We’ve been nonstop on the go since mid-May and I finally feel like we have a life again.  As I mentioned numerous times, so much of my anxiety is tied to commuting and resulted in me missing out on so many events and opportunities I would’ve otherwise enjoyed, all because of a dumb train schedule.  It hurts my heart to think about but since I can’t change the past, I’m actively changing the present.

Since we moved, I’ve been saying yes to literally everything that comes my way.  I’m even going to a Yankee game next week and you know how I feel about sports!  I’ve gone to book events (including BookExpo / BookCon and got to sleep in my own bed afterward!), roamed around Central Park every chance I’ve gotten, met up with friends for ice cream and breakfast dates, attended two plays, went to two movies and last night, we went to Central Park to see the New York Philharmonic perform a free live show.  Andrew’s friend Ben plans a get together around it each year and this year we were finally able to properly attend!  Ben made the most delicious ratatouille (as per tradition) and lemon squares that are out of this world.

Even though the weather has been getting warmer, I’m already over summer and craving Autumn, hence the faux leather jacket.  I’ve been in a mod kind of mood which led to the striped turtleneck (I’ve actually been on the hunt for a black and white mod Twiggy style dress lately too) and ever since I dyed my hair, mustard yellow has become a signature color of mine.  I’ve been slowly increasing the volume of yellow in my wardrobe since 2018 started, but I just love how it compliments the coppery tone of my hair and I’ve been making a point to wear something yellow on most days.  I’m accessorized appropriately for summer with a basket bag and white sunglasses but really, I’m dreaming of pumpkin picking and fall foliage.

  1. Your hair suits you so well! I just watched your Book Expo/BEA vlog earlier today and I’m happy you were able to go back and re-dye it. We were talking about moving on Instagram and it’s funny you’re talking about moving closer to the city, because I’ve moved further from mine! So I will undoubtedly be suffering the delayed train schedules soon enough :p

Thanks Amaris! And omg good luck with your move and your new commute! I eventually want to move far from the city but I think we’ll be happy here for the next 3-4 years!
