Fall-Themed Q&A

I think it’s pretty clear how deep my love of Autumn runs so when I saw this tag on Lauren’s blog and I decided to post my own answers as well!  (Q&A hosted by The Blended Blog)

Favorite fall sweet treat?

My favorite treat that I bake at home is chocolate chip pumpkin bread. I use the mix sold at Trader Joe’s, follow the instructions and then I add in a full bag of chocolate chips into the batter before placing it in the over.  The result is delicious! It’s so dangerous when I make it because it’s only Andrew and I in our apartment and I swear I could eat a slice at every meal. I also always look forward to a good spicy slice of pumpkin pie… and blueberry pie.  I really love pie.

Red, yellow, or green apples?

My favorite type of apple is the maccon. It’s so sweet and crisp and I look forward to them every year! They’re only sold for a very short time but I so wish they were available year round.  They look similar to macintosh apples but don’t let their appearance fool you- they’re so much better. I also enjoy the occasional granny smith apple or red delicious apple (I am one of those rare people that enjoy those) but I can’t say I’ve ever had a craving for a yellow apple.

Favorite fall sport to play?

Hahahaha, next.

Best drink for fall?

I truly love a warm cup of spiced apple cider. Especially after a nice stroll outside in the crisp autumn air, cider warms you right up.  And I love cradling my cup in hands for added warmth.

Favorite fall activity?

I love going for walks and admiring the fall foliage.  I get so entranced by the incredible colors of the leaves and I would be happy to walk amongst the trees or drive along a scenic path for hours on end.  Every year I’m so taken aback by how gorgeous nature can be!

Must have fall purchase?

What don’t I buy in the fall? As I’ve said before, I couldn’t care less about the clothing offered in spring / summer but once autumn hits, I fall in love all over again with my wardrobe and the potential new additions.  I particularly love shopping for sweaters, boots, scarves and all the plaid.  As for food, I go crazy for pumpkin spice flavored foods, BUT they have to be spiced and not plain pumpkin.

Pumpkins: pick your own or store-bought?

Pick your own! Half the fun of getting a pumpkin to carve is the hunt for your perfect pumpkin.  While we did go to a pumpkin patch this year, I didn’t end up picking one because we went too late in the season.  Next year, I’m making sure we go earlier- I missed baking pumpkin seeds!

Real or fake pumpkin?

While I love real pumpkins, I do love the longevity of faux pumpkins.  Target especially, has had some really lovely styles to choose from and they do so much to make the inside of my apartment feel festive.  I love using them in instagram photos and knowing that I’ll be able to break them out again next year.

Favorite Halloween costume?

So, the funny thing about being a cosplayer and going to comic conventions is that Halloween was never a big deal for costumes to me.  Especially since NYCC was only a few short weeks before, I never felt like I had the time to put effort into multiple costumes so close together.  As I’ve gotten older and mostly stopped cosplaying, I am getting more into the idea of dressing up for Halloween.  I actually have a small list of ideas of costumes that I want Andrew and I to wear over the coming years.

College football or NFL?

No thank you, I’ll stick to my books<3

Fall or Halloween decor?

I love fall decor! As much as I enjoy Halloween decorations and a good spooky movie marathon, I love starting to decorate for fall on September 1st and I keep everything up until a few days before Thanksgiving. (We’re actually going to be decorating for Christmas this upcoming weekend!)

Raking leaves or no leaves to rake?

No leaves thankfully!  That’s one of the benefits of living in an apartment, living in NYC and having previously lived with a dad who did that kind of thing.

Favorite soup?

I never had been a soup person. I never thought of it as a real meal since it’s a liquid and I would dread the nights my mom would say we were having soup for dinner. Since I’ve grown older, my tastes have changed a bit and there have been a couple of soups that I find myself enjoying. It’s usually difficult for me to get soup because most are made with chicken broth and I’m a vegetarian, but one that sticks out in my mind is the butternut squash soup from Trader Joe’s.

Favorite fall candle scent?

Pumpkin Spice EVERYTHING. The amount of candles that I have is laughable and the amount of them that are pumpkin scented is even more so.  I do enjoy the apple scents as well, but nothing gets me more relaxed than pumpkin, especially if it’s blended with coffee.

Love or hate pumpkin spice?

I love it, but I think I’ve covered that.

Short booties or tall boots?

I love both! I think short boots are best in the fall (I love pairing them with a pair of skinny jeans or a skater skirt and tights) and tall boots are best in the winter when you need the extra coverage for warmth.

Favorite Halloween candy?

I can give you a top three because narrowing it down to just one is an impossibility.  I love Take 5’s, Reese’s and Hershey’s Cookie’s N Cream bars.  We got all of the aforementioned candy this year for our Halloween movie marathon and it disappeared much more quickly than we’d like to admit.

PSL: yes or no?

YES. So I have a complicated relationship with PSL’s. I love the taste but if I drink a full grande one, I always feel nauseas.  I’ve recently discovered that I seem to do okay if I drink frappucino’s instead of the lattes but I still prefer peppermint mochas first and foremost.

Hayride or corn maze?

I’m not quite sure! Andrew and I did a corn maze several years ago (and got horribly lost) but I can’t remember the last time I went on a hayride.  I feel like I might enjoy hayrides more but I might be romanticizing them in my mind.

Favorite fall TV show?

I watch SO MUCH tv. I’m so excited to have The FlashThe Good PlaceStranger Things and Riverdale back!

Hayrides are super itchy, so I definitely think you’re romanticizing them. =P

I feel all warm and toasty after reading this haha! One of the things I miss about living in the UK is the Autumn don’t get me wrong I love the bright sunny days in Thailand but there’s no autumn here so no celebrations, no pumpkin spice, no apple cinnamon, no pies, no nothing!! I didn’t realise just how much I loved autumn until I moved to a place that doesn’t have it so I’m just living vicariously through everyone’s instagram photos haha! xoxo

  3. Your fall photos are gorgeous! Max and I have a pumpkin patch a few hours away that we LOVE and that has the best fall treats (our favorite is the “apple dumpling” which is a warm apple baked inside a flaky pastry dough served with ice cream) but we haven’t had time to go the past 2 years since it’s quite a drive and fall is my busy season at work. We went to a more local one this year but were sort of disappointed, though we did end up getting a few small pumpkins to decorate with!

  5. I love seeing people’s answers for these type of posts. I went on a haunted story type of hayride last year and that was a blast, so I think I’d enjoy that more than a corn maze. Omg, I’m SO with you on Hershey’s Cookies n Creme. It’s been a favorite of mine for years, seriously. So yummy.

  6. […] In order to feel a bit more festive for Thanksgiving, today I’ll be doing the Fall-Themed Q & A. I am a huge Christmas fan (reminder that I must do a Christmas or winter Q & A as well!) and the holiday season for me begins on November 1st ,my Spotify Christmas playlist ready to go. As much as I love Christmas, I do love the fall and Thanksgiving, and I see Thanksgiving as the last major fall event. The Fall-Themed Q & A was hosted by The Blended Blog and I was inspired to do this post by Kristin of Super Space Chick. […]

  8. I think hayrides are a bit over romanticized. I think a private one would be really nice, through some lovely foliage, but in reality I feel like it’s always just being crammed in with strangers on an itchy seat! XD
