December Small Goals + Year End Survey

I’ve seen a bunch of people post small monthly goals (and I recently realized that Writes Like a Girl started this monthly post & has a monthly link up for it on her blog!) and I really like the idea of re-centering and re-evaluating everything more frequently.  It’s awesome to make yearly goals but it’s also easy to lose focus or forget about them entirely over the 365 day period we’re aiming to accomplish them in.  Having small monthly goals to help get to those bigger picture yearly ones is something I’m eager to try out!

I did pretty well this month! I have to say that I never once looked back at my goals this month so I’m surprised I accomplished as much as I did.

Before I check in, I’m taking a year end viewer and reader survey so I can better plan my 2018 content and make sure I’m focusing on creating things that you want to see. I would be so grateful if you took my survey!

1) Autumn Cleaning – DONE – Andrew and I cleaned out all of the closets in our apartment and I donated over 230 books, four bags of clothing, boxes of collectibles and we set up all of our Christmas decorations the weekend before Thanksgiving.  We are so on top of things! I have to say, it’s a pleasure to come home to a decluttered and organized living space.

2) Write  – DONE – My new blog design has me completely back on schedule when it comes to blogging<3 I’m just obsessed with the whole aesthetic of my site which is great because it means I’m inspired to make more content to share with you! I didn’t necessarily blog every single day in November, but I’m really pleased with everything I posted.

3) Read  – (Mostly) DONE – My goal was to read three specific books- Leviathan Wakes by James S.A. Corey, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen and Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel- and I ended up reading the first two listed.  I still need to read Station Eleven and I’m planning to do so in December.

4) Enjoy the Outdoors  – Fail – Besides one weekend which I recapped here, we spent most of our time indoors cleaning and organizing, binging Jane the Virgin, filming BookTube videos, attending Anime NYC and putting up our Christmas decorations.

1) Get organized digitally – I spent November cleaning out my physical space, but December is going to be devoted to getting organized digitally.  I’ve already cleaned out my email inbox and I’m working on planning and organizing my end of year BookTube videos and setting a system in place to keep me organized all year long.

2) Blog more personal posts  – When I was going back and deleting content from my site that no longer seemed relevant, I came across so many memories that I never would’ve remembered with such detail if it hadn’t been for my recaps.   There’s been a lot of talk amongst bloggers about getting back to the root of blogging with being personal and sharing snapshots of your everyday life and I really find that those types of posts are the ones I enjoy most.  That’s where my focus is going to be going forward (along with bookish posts!).

3) Take our Christmas card photo – We had been planning on doing this the morning before Thanksgiving dinner but we ended up deciding that since it was a holiday, we wanted to take the morning easy from our usual filming / photos / editing, etc.

  11. I LOVE your new theme! It’s been a while since I visited it. Lifes have been a bit crazy on my side! I like this post idea, sure keeps you in line or at least tries.? My goal is to definitely donate tons of books I have. I wanted to give them away but funds don’t allow me to do that. I at least know that my donations will make someone happy. Take care xoxo?
