Sequel Spotlight #1: Gone Rogue by Marissa Meyer (Wires and Nerve #2)

After much flailing with Alexa of Alexa Loves Books about all of the upcoming sequels being released in 2018, we thought it would be fun to start a monthly feature together to spotlight those that we’re most excited for.  And so, Sequel Spotlight was born! Each month we’re going to be talking about a newly released sequel along with why we’re hyped for it or why we loved it (if we’ve already had the chance to read it!).

This month we’re focusing on Gone Rogue (Wires and Nerve #2) by Marissa Meyer.  Not only is Gone Rogue the conclusion to last years Wires and Nerve, but the graphic novel duology is also a sequel spin-off to the much loved Lunar Chronicles quartet.  It follows Iko, the lovable android sidekick to Cinder but thrusts her out of a supporting role and into the spotlight.  The first installment had me laughing with Iko’s typical sass and I was delighted to have another look into the lives of my OTP Cress and Thorne (and of course, the cameos from everyone else in the Cinder squad).  Once again, the alliance between Earth and Luna is being threatened and Iko is spearheading the hunt to apprehend the leader of these hybrid-wolf soldiers.

Why I’m Excited: The first book left off on a huge cliffhanger so I’ve been eager to get my hands on the conclusion for the entirety of the past year!  In addition to enjoying the antics of the old crew again, it was especially exciting to see them drawn out in a visual medium.  So many of their depictions were so close to what I imagined in my mind while reading the original series.  My biggest investment has always been Cress and Thorne but I’m curious to see how they’ll all band together to overcome this new threat and reunite Luna and Earth!

I just recently started the series and finished book 2. When I saw she did a spin off with Iko as the main character I was so excited! She’s awesome! Also I tend to love robot/android characters – Iko, Baymax, Janet from Good Place, etc. lol
