Galentine’s Day Celebration

This past weekend, Alexa, Rachel and I decided to plan a full day of events in NYC to belatedly celebrate Galentine’s Day together.  For months beforehand we exchanged instagram posts with potential places to go right up until the night before when we finally ironed out our schedule (special thanks to Rach for mapping out our itinerary!).  Further proof we’re all meant to be best friends- we have a shared google doc of places to go in the future and we really love our spreadsheets.  Anyway, I could not be more thankful to have these incredible ladies in my life and we always have so much fun chatting books and laughing about everything together.

We started our day with brunch at Buvette and let me tell you, my waffle was Leslie Knoppe worthy.  Rachel opted for French toast and Alexa had a waffle sandwich. I love the cozy French vibes of the cafe and I would love to go back in the summer when the outside garden area is open.

Next we made a point to check out the new Space NK wall mural which is perfectly themed for our day.  We also happened upon this Audrey Hepburn art that’s been around for ages but I hadn’t ever seen in person before.

One of the most exciting things ever is that ModCloth just so happened to open their first permanent NYC store at 12 on the day of our Galentine’s Day celebration so that was one of the earliest places to make our list! We all added a ton to our shopping carts after seeing some of their pieces in person and it’s only a matter of time before we buy them.  I really loved all of the decor, there were florals for days!

Would it even be an Alexa – Rachel – Kristin day if ice cream weren’t involved? We decided to go to Stax, one of our all time favorites for their cute Valentine’s Day special.  I had peppermint Oreo bark and birthday cake in my cone with a unicorn macaron on top, Rachel had Fruity Pebbles and jasmine milk tea with a unicorn macaron on top and Alexa had peppermint Oreo bark and Fruity Pebbles with a whale macaron.

Next we went to Remi Flower and Coffee which is basically my new obsession.  Someone please explain why all flower shops aren’t also cute cafes? While we were here I sneaked a photo of The Beauty of the Moment by Tanaz Bhathena since I’m on the instagram tour (photo posted yesterday).  Alexa opted for a lavender latte and Rachel went for the rose latte. I had an Earl Grey latte but sadly mine was nowhere near as pretty as theirs (you can see my sad cup sitting the background of that first photo lol!).

We ended our day at Kinokuniya picking up some new manga for Alexa and my upcoming readathon, OtakuAThon! I’m really excited that Alexa picked up more Dreamin’ Sun and Rachel picked up Ancient Magus Bride! I bought I Want to Eat Your Pancreas, Complex Age, and the Fullmetal edition of Fullmetal Alchemist.  We also visited the Gucci Wooster bookstore earlier in the day but I couldn’t get the photo to fit in any of the other collages!

No outing involving all three of us will be complete without a stop for ice cream – you definitely got that right! Looking back on Galentine’s Day and how we celebrated makes my heart so dang happy. Can’t wait to do another one in 2020!
