Re-introductions + Week of Blogging Challenge

It’s been a while since I last blogged, but that’s changing, so allow me to reintroduce myself in case it’s your first time here!

About Me

My name is Kristin and I am an introverted Ravenclaw who’s favorite seasons are Autumn and Christmas.  I live in New York City with my best friend and husband, Andrew. We’ve been married for three and a half years now, and living in NYC for a year and a half.  I’m an avid reader- I have a YouTube channel completely devoted to my love of books. I adore fashion and I graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology after four years of college with a degree in Fashion Merchandising Management, specializing in buying and planning (a degree that has absolutely nothing to do with my chosen career path).  I love writing, and I had been putting it on the backburner for the past few years but I’m finally rediscovering my need to put the proverbial pen to paper.

I’ve always wanted to live in NYC (proper NYC, not Brooklyn or the FIT dorms like I had in the past) and take full advantage of all that this city has to offer. I can honestly say that I haven’t even come close to doing so since our move.  I’ve done mild exploring, but on the whole it’s not a habit of mine and I am a creature of habit.  As someone who thrives on routine, it’s very easy to get comfortable shutting out the outside world (why would I want to leave my apartment when Andrew and my books are there?). And that’s something I’ve decided to actively work on changing!  While I do suffer from anxiety, I feel that I’ve let it become an emotional crutch at points and I’m determined to be more analytical when making decisions about what I need.  I was truly not expecting to go here in my first post, but first and foremost, I’m writing for myself, so I plan on being completely candid in respect to myself and my feelings (I would never betray the trust of family or friends which should go without saying but just in case!).

Week of Blogging Challenge

As I mentioned above, I’ve been rediscovering my love of writing recently.  Taking the time to shut out daily distractions and hyper focus on my creative pursuit is time well spent. It’s so easy to mindlessly scroll social media, watch YouTube videos, or even get hung up on whether I’m reading enough books, which is why I’ve decided to invest at least 30 minutes a day in myself (likely in the morning since I’m an early bird!).  I’m sure this sounds counterproductive coming from a content creator, but I’ll have a full post on that in the future.  I don’t always have the mental energy to devote to my current creative writing project, but I want to make an effort to flex my writing muscles every day, which is where the blog posts come in.  Since I’m also trying to get out more, I thought I could kill two birds with one stone and chronicle my adventures and daily musings like I did in the good ole days of my blogging past.  Ultimately, I’m hoping to turn blogging back into a habit that I’ll continue well past the next seven days.  But in the meantime, I’m not going to let myself get caught up in the things that usually stop me from blogging (like making sure my photos are perfect, not taking the time to write, mindless internet scrolling, etc.)  Thanks for joining me on this creative endeavor!

I’m an introverted hufflepuff but I do know how you feel about getting out and trying new things. I have a book blog myself if you want to read it.

You’re telling me!!! Every time someone says they can’t believe it, I go back to double check the dates because I can’t believe it myself! And thank you so much Andi! I feel like I’m always super critical of my photos so that’s nice to hear!

Yay!! It’s so much easier to read a blog while taking a quick break at work than to get caught watching a youtube video ;) hahah

Like you, were it not for the encouragement of other people in my life, I likely wouldn’t venture out of my apartment! I love routines; they’re what’s most comfortable for me. But I’m glad you’re embracing the sense of adventure and getting out there more, even if it’s out of your comfort zone!

Also, I’m so happy you’re blogging again! We really did connect because of your blog, and I can’t wait to see all your new posts.

  6. I’m an introverted Ravenclaw who loves routine and consistency too. I think a week of blogging challenge sounds so creative and a great way to break out of that patterned mold. I’m excited to see how your week unfolds. I’m already feeling very inspired to do something very creative and different on my blog too.

Thanks Cassie! I can’t wait to see whatever you decide to do on your blog!! It’s so easy to fall into routine but I’m feeling determined to break free a bit!

Introverted Ravenclaw, Autumn Court rebel, but you knew that.

I love this idea! I’m so glad you’re writing again! As I mentioned yesterday, I just post even if I know it sounds stupid or that no one is gonna read it.
