Blogging Challenge Complete: What I Learned

Well folks, my seven day blogging challenge has come to an end.  I’m really proud of myself for sticking with it, even when I felt too tired and busy to do so.  I managed to push myself outside of my comfort zone and plan a ton of fun activities for Andrew and I.  It seriously feels like last weekend was the equivalent of three weekends!  Since I had such a great time, I’ve decided to continue blogging, which was my desired result of this little experiment.  I’m not going to be blogging every single day (especially weekends), but I am definitely going to be posting a couple of times per week.  I’m really glad that I’ve rediscovered my love of blogging and that I’ll be able to look back on my posts in the future and relive all the new memories.

One thing I learned is that I much prefer blogging to vlogging.  As someone who has done both, my experience is that vlogging really takes me out of the moment.  I have to make a point to stop whatever I’m doing to film a clip and explain where I am, whereas blogging comes much more naturally to me.  I love taking photos so it tends to be more organic.  Since I would be documenting what I’m doing in photos anyway, I don’t feel like I’m stopping to do something for someone else.  I’m definitely more present this way.  I’ve been struggling with vlogging lately, I’ve started and stopped about 5+ in the past few months, and now I can finally articulate why!

Thank you for joining me during this past week, especially if you stuck around until the end!

  5. I don’t think I will ever be a vlogger per say. I prefer to write out my thoughts then say them on a youtube video.

I’m with you on the blogging over vlogging feeling – I tend to prefer looking back at my memories through my blog posts, and I do a better job of writing about it than I do vlogging when I’m actually doing things (because it’s just not organic or comfortable to me). I’m glad your blogging challenge went so well and I’m thrilled you’re going to be blogging more going forward!
